So there was a rumor running around after the Kenny King thing that a "major" ROH star was going to be venting his frustration as well...and here it is.
It's also odd that Davey has more personality in a shoot than he does in character. I honestly think that 90 second trailer is the first time I ever cared about anything Davey said.

I never got why people seem to think Cornette is outdated. Frankly, most of what he says is TRUE. The territory system wasnt perfect, but destroying that cost wrestling a lot.

Have you watched ROH recently? That's why people think Cornette is outdated.
Nobody is allowed to have a personality, 90% of the characters are either "nice guy who wrestles" "mean guy who wrestles" or "guy who can't wrestle but pays a lot of guys to do his dirty work".
He's stopped booking El Generico, guys like Adam Cole and Davey Richards who show flashes of personality(in the case of Cole much more) aren't allowed to show that personality in ROH.
They have no more women's division, and Cornette insists on using guys he likes regardless of the fans opinions on them.
He's turned ROH from a innovative fusion of the old school and new school into Smokey Mountain 2.0.

I'd rather have "happy guy who wrestles" and "angry guy who wrestles" over porn stars, plumbers, clowns, race car drivers, dentists, ninjas, garbage men, or hog farmers.

Nobody is saying that ROH needs to be the WWF, but there are plenty of off-beat characters and charismatic showmen in ROH history that didn't suck.
Delirious, The Embassy(not the current awful LTD incarnation but Nana, Rave and Shelley), El Generico, CM Punk(especially the Second City Saints), Colt Cabana, Jack Evans, Christopher Daniels, all brought showmanship as well as wrestling skill to the ring.
Now the only guys allowed to do more than "guys who wrestle" are The Briscoes, and S.C.U.M, who not surprisingly are some of the only guys on the roster who are over.

This. Wrestling should strike a balance between gimmicks and the actual in-ring work. I do like my workrate and linear storylines but I also want some reason to invest in a personality that will make me care.
I'm a loser and my sig takes up half the damn page. Learn from my mistakes and don't be like me.

That doesn't sound like Smoky Mountain at all, actually. Or anywhere else that Cornette has worked, for that matter.

Because the territories went away 20 years ago and he's still talking about it.

Thats the thing though, they didnt go away because they were outdated, they couldve served their role, but Vince HAD to own everything. The past could still serve a valuable roll in the present if people let it, but they dont, because they wont watch anything that isnt on prime time.

Hipster.
Todd Manning is disgusted at your seriousness on the internet.

I see your point Naim and do agree with you, but I also feel "hipster" is becoming one of those words that's so overused, both as a label and insult, that people throw it out there for anyone that disagrees with them or dissents with the majority opinion.

No no, Naim is right, everyone should just pretend that the current state of wrestling is the best ever, so we dont get sad.

This is why he would rather be the opening match in japan
Dude shows more charisma in new japan than he ever has in roh
I became a davey fan because he was so funny in pwg
Pwg davey>>>>>roh davey
Adam Cole is much the same way, fantastic in CZW...so-so in ROH. With the notable exception that Cole's matches in ROH are great(except when they make him wrestle Brutal Bob )
