well I hate most of the shows people are mentioning in this thread. Also @5th Horsemen I mentioned Macgyver but not as the greatest show, I mentioned it as 1 of my favorites. In reality if it's based on longevity then the Brady Bunch is the greatest show of all time cause nothing has been on the air as long as that show Gilligan's Island has. Gilligan has gone away from time to time. I've never seen a time when Brady Bunch wasn't on someone's schedule

to me the greatest are: Regular Show- Very vulgar Bill Nye, The Science Guy- Helped me in Science Ed, Edd, and Eddy- Shaped my childhood South Park- Vulgar + jokes = Cult Classic The Big Bang Theory- I get the jokes How I Met Your Mother-Neil Patrick Harris.....need I say more? Robot Chicken- Creepy, And I'm okay with that There's more but I can't remember I didn't care for Robot Chicken. No offense. It's just random chokes, and cheesy ones at that. Plus after a while every other episode become a Star Wars one.

Gilligan has gone away from time to time. I've never seen a time when Brady Bunch wasn't on someone's schedule Gilligan has been in syndication some where's in the USA since it went off the air. So it has a longer run on tv than Brady Bunch. But Brady Bunch is a very close second place.

Shit now that I think about it I bet Andy Griffith has been on the air, through syndication, longer than any show. If I recall, it had a very brief period where it was not being aired anywhere. Gilligan has the record for running longer in syndication than any show. The longest running cartoon in syndication without ever being off the air right now is the original Scooby Doo I believe.

They both started before Andy Griffith and I know Bonanza has some public domain episodes. And I swear I now I get Bonanza on like 3 or 4 different networks. And I'm not sure I can limit to a greatest but I'd definitely put those two in the mix. Along with a lot of others mentioned like I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners along with Little House on the Prairie and MASH. All those shows defined eras, aged well and continue to draw in some new audiences and fans.

Im shocked about Scooby Doo. How many crocked real estate developers are there?
Also why do they all decide to try and scare everyone off with monster costumes?

The correct answer is Doctor Who. Doctor Who was completely off the air for a little over a year starting in 1985. Or was this in answer to greatest show ever? We've kinda veered off into something else.

Shit now that I think about it I bet Andy Griffith has been on the air, through syndication, longer than any show. I Love Lucy hasn't been off the air since 1951 and it was the first show ever to be "re-run" In fact, the year after it ended, CBS played old episodes of it in PRIME TIME.
