I extremely dislike the fact that ECW gets so much credit for bringing light heavyweight and fast paced technical wrestling to prominence in the U.S.
WCW had a great light heavyweight division years before ECW. Pillman was having classics with guys like Jushin Liger and Muta was wowing everyone with his moonsaults and handspring back elbows before ECW brought in any of their international stars
Go back even further and you'll see Tiger Mask versus Dynamite Kid on old WWF tv from Madison Square Garden in the early 80s.
That's just a few examples

I hated New Jack's theme and, in general, find the theme music (outside of Sandman's) overratedBut Enter Sandman, one of the most overrated songs of all time is NOT overrated compared to some of the bands they had like the Offspring!? Most of the theme music in ECW was years old by the time they started using it. Which only dated the matches.

okay, I love ECW, but...
It was the wrestling equivalent of Jerry Springer.
The women looked like that kinda okay looking meth whore on main street (aside from like Leia Meow and Sunny) that offers you a blowjob for a really low price and actually makes you consider doing it, until you remember that STD's exist and nobody wants a condom blowjob.
They put the belt on any guy that was over for a night
Tommy Dreamer's underdog story drew itself out for too long to the point where you didn't care anymore.
Sandman, although entertaining at times sucked in the ring.
RVD and Sabu were a redeeming quality of the product near the end, two of the only ones.
Rhyno sucked
people who say ECW Alumni were mistreated in other feds are right, but alot of those guys were in ECW because they werent marketable.
Raven should have had a gimmick overhaul before the millennium, and now he's dead...well his career is.
WWE's Hardcore Division in the late 90's-2000s was slightly more entertaining than ECW.
Who the fuck wanted Aldo Montoya to be ECW champion?

Who the fuck wanted Aldo Montoya to be ECW champion? OK I agree with some of this but the end of ECW was damn entertaining. CW Anderson had a great series of matches with Tommy Dreamer. Mikey and Tajiri, Dorring and Roadkill, Hot Commodity, Matthew & York and The FBI were a better tag division than WWE or WCW. Steve Corino, Jerry Lynn, RVD, Super Crazy, Kid Kash and others were all fun to watch. I liked Justin Credible as champion, with Lance gone they had to do something to get him over on his own. WWE's Hardcore division was a joke. I can't name more than 10 actual matches for the title, I can name loads of ECW matches. Oh and Dawn Marie was also hot and I liked Rhino. The rest I agree with you.

I disagree with you on this one. For one, Hot Commodity sucked. But WWE had, at the same time, Edge & Christian, Hardys, Dudleys, Too Cool, RTC, Kaientai, Lo-Down, APA, Road Dogg & K-Kwik, Malenko & Saturn, Mean Street Posse and others I am sure I am forgetting. Sure a few of them weren't the greatest in the world, but they all had purpose and had some wacky gimmick or storyline.

^Dudleys came from ECW though and I hate all of those teams except the Dudley's, Edge & Christian and the Hardy's. The others I skipped their matches.
and Hot Commodity had great entrance music, Hammerick, Julio and Money were all great in the ring and had a lot of good matches. Their only flaw was Money showing his ass all the time and Elektra

I am sorry, I disagree with that. I would disagree with York & Matthews, but the only match of theirs I ever watched in ECW was vs Cyrus and Jerry Lynn and all that was was them being beaten down by Da Baldies and pinned by Cyrus

Their match at Massacre on 34th street against Simon and Swinger was great as was a lot of their Hardcore TV matches. Sadly Matthews got injured at the last show Guilty as Charged and York was a druggie so it killed the chances of WWE picking them up as a team. later when Matthews came in as Mercury he just wasn't the same

ECW was good, but over-rated. I definitely prefer WCW 1996 and WWF 97-98 over ECW.

The greatest match in ECW history is Shane Douglas vs Pitbull #2 vs Too Cold Scorpio vs Chris Jericho for the TV Title. I remember watching it as a wee laddie and I remember hating Jericho because my mother used to babysit this annoying kid named Jericho.

To me the greatest is Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs Hayabusa & Hakushi at ECW Heatwave 98

Jerry Lynn was the best wrestler in the history of the company.
Shane Douglas was way over rated in the ring.
1998, outside of Douglas being the champ was a great in ring year for ECW, as was 99.
The deepest roster they ever had was early 2000, before Awesome and Storm left.

Shane Douglas was truely the Franchise of ECW. Once he was gone or left for short periods of time the product stunk.
Tommy Dreamer I will never get behind or care about. I just don't get it.
Most fans here got their information and memories of ECW from a DVD released by the WWE. Although good it is not the gospel of ECW.
Justin Credible's title run was great!

Mike Awesome was a spot monkey but a damn good one at that. If ECW had found another network to be on they still would have failed due to Heyman. (Not sure if unpopular but that's how I feel.) New Jack is awesome.

New Jack is awesome. I always felt with WCW going under, giving an influx of new talent and talent being cheaper and being the only serious alternative to WWF, I think if they could of survived another 3 months they would still be here today.

Tammy Sytch and Kimona Wanalaya were hot; the other ECW women, not so much.
Well, there was Woman, but she wasn't around for their heyday; I always thought she was hot.

(Not sure if unpopular but that's how I feel.)New Jack is awesome. As big as an ECW mark I am, sadly agreed. And that's not too much unpopualr; people acknowledge Heyman's a great creative mind and motivator but a bit unsteady on the financial side of running things. Offensive joke warning: how can a Jew be bad at finances? I'll see myself out.

A new wwe kids book should be made called paul heyman and his magical bouncing cheque book
ECW insisted on itself too much.
WWECW was a fine show
Christian is one of the greatest ECW champioms of all time
Matt hardy however brought the prestige of the belt down
Still wish NXT didn't replace WWECW sometimes, but otherwise I'm happy that it did.
Tommy Dreamer still sucks
Wwe is the only entity that had a good ECW reunion, shane douglas's tries sucked, TNA's REALLY SUCKED
Sabu really didn't have a lot of good matches in ecw, but the ones that were good, were damn good.
Kurt Angle leaving and Benoits death had a huge impact on WWECW's chances of success.
Bobby Lashley was the worst ECW champ ever.
ECW did not know how to put on a ladder match.
ECW should have been neutral or on WWE's side during the invasion ( that's not unpopular, but still)
Shane Douglas blows, go back to target loser.
Both WWEs tag division and WCW's tag division were better than ecws in the end, APA,Dudleys, Hardys, E and C, X Factor, and the NOA plus others from wwe and O'haire and Jindrak and Palumbo and Stasiak along with the others killed the competition
Mike Awesome has every right to leave ECW, and shouldn't have been judged for doing so
