And this looks to be what can really only be described as an upset.

And there you have the first upset of the year. I actually had the Cowboys winning but the Giants looked awful tonight on all aspects of the game.

The long suspensions put on players associated with the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal have been overturned in an appeal to a panel enacted due to the collective bargaining agreement. Jonathan Vilma (one full season), Anthony Hargrove (eight games), Will Smith (four games) and Scott Fujita (three games) are now fully eligible to play as soon as this Sunday. However, Commissioner Roger Goodell is free to re-suspend them if he can prove that the players intended to injure those bounty targets, and he's free to do this immediately.
The suspensions placed on coaching staff will remain intact.

That's disgusting. Like it or not, these guys are a bunch of thugs who purposely tried to injure QBs. Now they're free to play Sunday? Awful move and now I really feel bad for Drew Brees. He's going down hard several times this year and none of it is his fault.

Gregg Williams instructing his Saints defense before their Playoff game against the 49ers.
"A mind troubled by doubt cannot focus on victory." "Little 32, we want to knock the f--- out of him. He has no idea what he's in for." "Go lay that mother f----- out." "Every single one of you, before you get off the pile, affect the head." "He becomes human when we f----- take out that outside ACL." "We need to decide on how many times we can beat Frank Gore's head."

EVERY team talked like that before concussions became the issue of the day. Every single, solitary team. None of those statements prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the Saints players and staff consciously agreed that injuring (permanently or otherwise) opposing players would be rewarded with immediate bonus money. Now, in other NFL news, I give you a fair warning: What you're about to read is truly glorious.

I wonder why all those players and the coaches were suspended for then? Hmmm, I just don't understand.
My view, those guys are thugs and you have a different view, so we'll leave it at that as I plan on being all over this thread in the coming months.

No, no, I don't want to leave it there just because you say we'll leave it there. I feel like saying this, so I'm going to say it.
The reason those players and coaches were suspended is because Roger Goodell jumped the gun. He held no formal investigation and had no real evidence that these men actually did anything, but NFL players putting bounties on each others' heads is what's known in journalism as "a sexy story" and, whenever that happens, the verdict in the court of public opinion is always 'Guilty'. Goodell decided to follow the court of public opinion instead of having a deeper investigation into things. Yes, they were suspended, but hey, what's the news today? That those same suspensions were overturned; there's gotta be merit in THAT, right?

Makes me wonder if Roethlisberger had contested his suspension back in the day for those two rape charges that the DA choose not to pursue, he was never charged and never went to court, if he would've won.

That suspension was for conduct unbecoming a professional athlete. Roethlisberger may not have been indicted for sexual assault, but he did get very drunk and acted like a total dickwad.

I can't wait for the dozen text messages from my Pennsylvania friends telling me to turn on CBS for the Buffalo game and, like always, having to explain to them about how I live outside Boston and they will always air the Patriots game.
