Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that the NFL and the NFL Referees' Union are now "very close" to a deal. They have a lot of preparation to get through (they all need to get acclimated with the updated rules, they need their schedules, and they need to get fitted for new Nike uniforms), so we'll most likely have scab referees this weekend.
